Who is with me when I say mmm Jerky!? I never realized how easy it is to make this delicious snack at home until about a year ago. Now we make this multiple times a year. Try it for yourself!

Can be made with venison or beef

Ingredients

  • 3 lbs meat, sliced to the size and thickness you desire (We use deer meat but beef works as well)
  • ¾ cup brown sugar
  • ¾ cup worcestershire sauce
  • 2/3 cup soy sauce
  • 5 tbsp hickory liquid smoke
  • 3 tbsp BBQ sauce
  • 3 tsp pepper
  • 1 ½ tsp salt
  • 1 ¼ tsp chili powder
  • ¾ tsp garlic powder
  • ¾ tsp onion powder

Instructions

Combine all ingredients and add meat. Marinate for 2-3 days, mixing every day.

Dehydrator Instructions: Place marinated meat evenly on trays and set for 5-7 hours.

Oven Instructions: Set oven temperature at 160 degrees. Hang meat in oven from racks using skewers. Cook for 5-7 hours.
