If there is one food that always brings me back to my childhood, it’s my Mom’s applesauce cookies, a recipe passed down from her Great Grandmother. These cookies are so soft with just the right amount of spices. They taste like Christmas in your mouth.
A good cookie sheet is a must have for evenly baked cookies. I have these from Wilton and they are amazing. Amazon has them for a really good price too (Paid Link) https://amzn.to/2II7EfK. As an Amazon Associate, I earn from qualifying purchases.

- 2 cups packed brown sugar
- 3 large eggs
- 4 cups flour
- 2 tsp baking soda
- 2 tsp cinnamon
- 1 tsp nutmeg
- 2 cups unsweetened applesauce
Instructions
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Beat together the butter and brown sugar. Add eggs in one at a time, mixing in between. Set aside.
In a separate bowl, mix together flour, baking soda, cinnamon and nutmeg.
Add wet and dry ingredients together and add applesauce. Mix well.
Drop by spoonful on ungreased cookie sheet.
Bake for 8-10 minutes or until you push the middle and they bounce back. Leave on cookie sheet for 1 minute before transferring to cooling rack.
Notes
Due to the nature of these cookies being sticky and moist, store in an airtight container.
